SAM ROTH

Sam Roth was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1944.  He received his Bachelor's Degree from Youngstown State University and his Masters Degree from Cleveland State University.  He started his career as an educator and later began working in the art and design industry.  Sam has always been an artist, creating through painting on canvas or paper.  Working in his studio, the focus of his paintings are best represented as atmospheric, abstract expressionism. The work has been described as poetic and mysterious. The subtle rich colors and elegant gestures leave it to the viewers imagination for interpretation, giving freedom to the abstract thought.

Sam and his work were featured on Public Television and a painting was placed in Cleveland's IdeaStream. His work is in many private and corporate collections.He is represented in Cleveland by the Bonfoey Gallery & Art Source, Addington Gallery in Chicago, Hal Katzen Gallery in New York City. His most recent exhibitions include: the Butler Institute of American Art midyear show, a solo show curated by the Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh, North Carolina, a group show in Naples Florida, a solo show at the Humphrey Gallery in University Hospitals, Cleveland, Ohio and a show at the Cleveland Convention Center with sculptor David Deming. He currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and his studio is in the Murray Hill School Galleries in Cleveland’s Little Italy neighborhood.
